I... i awoke to find myself falling; but why was everything so dark i questioned thru the rising fog of sleep.   
my eyes snapped open just as i landed heavily and ass-first on a steel grating. i looked up immediately to try and find the origin of my short-lived descent, and spotted in the space above me a white circle, fading and closing up. it was gone. i knew i was too far away from it anyways, but the disappearence still caused me to despair. i decided to leave, and figured the first step would be to stand up and have a look around. the grating which kindly led off into empty space in two directions seemed to be supported by noth I

EchoHe was now back where he started, the very plain building where it had all began. It had seemed so clear at the time, this was to be his life's purpose, his greatest achievement, and undoubtedly one of the greatest discoveries of man. But he had in fact determined only one thing, failing all his training, every book he had consulted, studied, and memorized, every teacher and elder who had feebly tried to impress knowledge on him. He had always soaked in the information, processed it and filed it away. His mind always drew the connections near subconsciously, showing him new things without but the slightest effort.
